THE ROLE OF CAREGIVERS IN FOSTERING COOPERATION
The report Schizophrenia. The Role of the Caregiver in Establishing Co-operation is a continuation of publications presenting a complete picture of the treatment of schizophrenia from the economic and social perspective in Poland. The publication shows the influence that schizophrenia has not only on the patient’s life, but also on the entire health and social care system, generating huge public budget expenditure.
Mental disorders affect every fifth person in the world and are the second cause of illness, non-infectious diseases being the first. According to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) forecasts, mental illnesses will become one of the main health problems causing health disability in people in near future. Schizophrenia is the most severe and the most common mental illness that affects over 50 million people worldwide.
